Specifications
For any application that does not meet all of the following conditions, please call us toll free 1-888-743-6832 for assistance in selecting the appropriate Rotary Phase Converter.
- Static phase converter must electrically see a 3-phase motor. Connections through contactors are okay, but through transformers are not.
- Controls are okay if they all run from lines 1 and 2. Control transformers are okay if tapped from lines 1 and 2 (reverse must also use lines 1 and 2).
- Single speed motors only.
- Typical starting times under 3 seconds.
- Light to moderate loads.
- Recommended 5 minute cool down between starts.
- Not recommended for heavy or complex loads.
- When using a 1700-1800 RPM modern T-frame motor, the horsepower of the load should fall within the horsepower rating of the phase converter.
- For use with motors other than 1700-1800 T-frame motors, use the weight of the motor, and consult the chart under the "Specifications" tab.
Static Phase Converters should not be used with ovens, heaters, lasers, CNC, battery chargers, resistive or rectifier loads, 2 or 3 speed motors, lathes (non-clutched), pumps, fans, refrigeration equipment, unattended equipment, welders, air compressors, frequent-start loads (more than six times per hour), hard-starting or multiple motor applications, or any equipment that will be run at more than 2/3 rated horsepower.
Sizing Help
The following table is a set of guidelines for sizing a static phase converter to your application.
(DR) stands for "Dual Range", which are units that can be toggled between different ranges
of HP's to accommodate different machines without needing to purchase additional converters.
