How do I determine what size phase converter I need?

Sizing a phase converter depends on your equipment and usage pattern:

For a Single Machine: Choose a converter rated at least equal to the motor horsepower. For hard-starting loads (compressors, punch presses), add 25-50% capacity.

For Multiple Machines: Add up the horsepower of your largest motor plus 50% of all additional motors that may run simultaneously.

Example: If you have a 10 HP lathe, 5 HP mill, and 3 HP dust collector, and all may run at once: 10 + (5 × 0.5) + (3 × 0.5) = 14 HP minimum. We’d recommend a 15 or 20 HP unit for headroom.
